iTunes 9 breaks Sony Vegas
I recently installed iTunes 9 and love it. I also recently tried to edit a video on Sony Vegas. When I went to edit the raw video (a .mp4 file) the audio track was left empty. I did a system restore and everything was fine again. That was a few days ago. After editing the previous video I had to do some reinstalls as most times after a restore. The only program I had to add was iTunes 9. Today while editing the same problem arose and the same solution worked. Then I noticed that along with iTunes 9 comes Quicktime version 7.6.4. The previous version was 7.6.2. After reading a few blogs it turns out that 7.6.4 is required to run iTunes 9. Also everyone with the new version of Quicktime/iTunes and any version of Sony Vegas is having the same problem. I only know that this problem is with .mp4 files but I'm not sure about other file types.
So if you use Vegas don't install the newest Quicktime and iTunes. If you already have unistall 9 and install iTunes 8.2.1 (64 bit) or iTunes 8.2.1 (32 bit).
Happy Editing!

Let's talk about Twitter
So, I like social media. A lot. I will join just about any site I hear about and try to become as active as possible. It gets hard to keep track of passwords to say the least.
Anyways.
Out of my IRL (In Real Life (Gosh, I hate saying IRL, but whatever)) friends I am the only one who uses Twitter. I am the social media guy. I'm the one with a Twitter, video blog, regular blog, Dailybooth, Digg, etc... Most of them do not understand Twitter. Some of them think they do and then try to explain it and fail miserably.
So, here's what Twitter is at its core (If you know what Twitter is at its core skip to the next paragraph and read why I think you should be on Twitter). Twitter is a social media site. It's kind of like Facebook but only with statuses if you want to be real simple. So you sign up and then start following people. You get these peoples' updates. People can follow you as well (they will get your updates). Updates which are called tweets are 140 characters or less. This is because a text message is 160 characters or less and Twitter needs to leave room for your username. You can tweet from the website, your phone, applications of a smart phone, or on desktop clients (TweetDeck FTW!). So that's gears of Twitter. Now here's why you should be on Twitter.
1. Why do I care what other people are doing right now?
Why not? Honestly. Maybe I want to know what half the cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation are up too.* (Footnotes at the bottom) Most people's tweets aren't just what they are doing. Very few tweets are simply "eating" "reading" or "pooping." People try to be entertaining on Twitter. Maybe you find out what people are reading and then you go check out a great book. Maybe you find out the swordfish is amazing and the new restaurant on the west side of town. Maybe you find out something new about someone. I cannot understand the argument that "I don't care what people are doing." People are interesting. Why not find out what they are up to.
2. Twitter is just for what you're going right now, right?
No. Many news sites are on Twitter for one. Lately a lot of news has spread via Twitter. When Michael Jackson died most people found out on Twitter or through someone on Twitter. There is also really really friggin' important news on Twitter. When the Iran Election chaos was happening Twitter is how the rest of the world was finding out the details. CNN anchors were tweeting with citizen journalists about what was going on. The Iranian government was so scared of Twitter they were going into public places and destroying computers to block access to the site. That is what Twitter can be.
So there are two semi-quick examples of why Twitter is not just "Facebook statuses." Maybe it's not for you. I, however enjoy hearing the daily blurbs of some celebrities, songwriters, friends, and others. So if you want to join go to www.twitter.com and sign up. You can follow me at @ericseverynew. And if you still aren't sold that's fine, but at least now you know what it is and you can at least pretend to be hip (Just Kidding).
